I've been going here for a year now. Angela does my hair and I love it. She is very talented. Penny is the owner - she is extremely knowledgeable about all things hair, and especially about color and texture. Angela and Penny were able to color correct and rehab my hair after an over process of highlights I received at another salon in Florida. Penny and Angela had my hair back in shape pretty quickly - I followed their protocol (no hard sell of products - just advice on how to properly care for your hair). After a few months of hair rehab, I wanted a low maintenance way to smooth my hair. Penny suggested OptiSmooth treatment. Angela did an amazing job doing the treatment and now my hair is so smooth and not crazy, even in humid conditions. I love it. It's so
Low maintenance now. I truly appreciate that Penny really took the time to get my hair healthy first with a good hair care protocol. I love the way Angela cuts and colors it and her blow outs are amazing. Adalina is also a great manicurist - when I have time I like to get my nails done and a pedicure too. It's very convenient that you can do hair and nails in one place.

I went here with a friend who had been here before.
They had a Groupon so it was the perfect way to try out a new place.

I was that terrible client that went in not knowing what I wanted besides going darker and get my then brassy ombré out! (Hey, in my defense, it was a last minute thing for me)
So my friend called to see if they could fit me in and they did with no problem within like an hours notice (and they were crowded so that was awesome of them!)

Katie did my hair. She was a sweetheart. I do enjoy carrying out conversations with my stylists instead of scrolling through my phone like a zombie, so when she wasn't very talkative it was a tiny bit disappointing but that's just me being weird, haha!

Anyway, the pics speak for themselves! She picked the perfect color, styled my hair amazingly, and gave me exactly what I didn't know I wanted!
I will definitely be back and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone, even if you're not nearby, it's worth the travel.
I've already had another friend visit and loved it.

And everyone is very friendly & meets you with a smile which is also a big deal for me!
I can't wait to try their nail services next!

I went to Elan with my friend who was getting her hair dyed and blown out for her rehearsal dinner. I got a regular pedi and a gel mani. The woman who did my nails was WONDERFUL. She gave me the best hand-painted French manicure. She was super careful to make the paint really even and it looked fantastic. It's been 3 weeks and while it's starting to lift around the bottom edges (which is to be expected), I have virtually zero chips. I'm still getting compliments on it despite the mani being 3 weeks old! And on top of that, price was super reasonable. Wonderful experience.

Christina is amazing!! She knows what she is doing and loves it. Her work is the best. She deals with me even when I take forever to pick a color or design. She's patient & sweet! She will forever be my nail girl!

Penny was Great!

I had been having problems with the color lasting with my previous colorist, so I tried going to Penny at Elan. She was so good and the color not only matches my hair pieces perfectly, but it's lasting and I am confident that it will hold up until my next appointment. The cut was better, too, and I don't seem to have the problem that I used to have with one side of my hair that used to "hang" wrong. This is perfect!

First off the location is convenient. My daughter and I decided to take advantage of the Mon-Wed special Man-Pedi $25. There is no special for what we wanted (Gel Mani with design and classic Pedi). It appears that appointments are preferred in that the coordination of our services included a long wait between mani and for me Pedi. Not enough nail techs to go around.

The customer service was great! The staff was friendly and welcoming. The six chairs with the massage great! The hot towel were really hot like I like. The hot stones I can do with out and then there was some heel paraffin ...nice touch. The leg and hand massage was a clear indication of unskilled...but OK.

The pedi and Mani was thorough(cuticles, cut, shaped, buffed), utensils sterilized and the polish applied wonderfully. Thanks Carol, Christine and Scaroro?

My Downside: the place is small. Six chairs for Pedicures and the nails stations are cramp. I didn't particular like that a woman was getting her hair color at the same as her nails. I wasn't sitting next to her though. Did I say it is a hair and nail salon? I just didn't know that happens.

I do recommend this business and I will return. Great customer service is really what I enjoy. I gave my tips with a smile and without pressure. Unlike my experiences at Nail Essence. Try Elan!

The owner Penny is still wonderful. The hairdressers are the best. However, I have dealt with such attitude from the front desk staff all over a small mistake. I don't appreciate being talked about and pretty much bullied through my very rushed mani and pedi. I've been going here religiously for a few years. Never again.

First time I went Melody cut my hair. Showed her want I wanted and got it. Nice cut. Started sending people there. Today I go, couldn't remember Melody's name but told the front desk where I sat and they said a lot of people are on vacation. So they get me Katie. Lousy cut nothing like I showed her. Extremely disappointed. I am formerly a hairdresser. I know exactly what my hair will do. I told her one length. She went shorter. Told her how I wanted the sides she didn't do it. When I said not what I wanted she tells me"your hair won't do that". That's when I told her you say that to a client first and I told her I was a hairdresser. I always spoke to my customers first. If someone really knows how to handle their hair they can End of story. In the future I will not be seeing Katie. Now Maria the lady who shampoos, what a sweetheart.

Been here before twice, once for confirmation and the other time for balayage. Looking back both the wash, cut, and blow and dye could've been done better. Recently went for a wash, cut, and blow done by LuLu. Way too over priced for a hair cut anyone could've done and the blowout was horrible. It looked half done, my hair could've been more straight or looked better. Also didn't feel comfortable, wasn't a personal or welcoming experience. Will go elsewhere on Staten Island for my hair.
