Sundog Theatre, founded in 2002, is a Staten Island-based performing arts organization with an reputation for producing original and contemporary theatre, delivering 120 arts-in-education programs in over 50 schools and organizations, touring productions that are relevant for today’s young people, and providing acting classes for young people. Sundog has several components:

What is a "sundog"? When the sun shines through ice crystals in the sky, a sundog appears. Sundogs appear in pairs, bookending the sun like companions -- or dogs -- and reflecting its impression. Just as sundogs reflect the sun, it is an artist's job to hold a mirror to humanity. Through humor and drama, Sundog has presented its theatrical works, many of them Island-centric, for the past 20 years to show humankind through an exploratory light. Likewise, our in-school programs support our mission to create lasting, positive change in children’s lives through the arts.
