We had our bathroom done by them 2 years ago and there isn't a single system in that room that hasn't failed requiring us to have people who actually know what they're doing to come in and fix. One guy seemed to do all the shoddy work and his helper, I guess was this shady cat who sat in my living room all day and looked at his phone
- Electrical outlets placed on the wrong wall
- a faucet that is now free floating and will require major work to repair
- shower plumbing that was improperly installed and handles coming off in our hands.
- seams left uncaulked causing mold to grow on the wall behind the vanity
- towel racks falling off the wall
Hire them at your peril.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

thank you looking forward to hear from you - Rant E.New York, NY2063103Sep 1, 2021Updated review
Your response says it all. Thank you.
I don't like to deal with insurance companies or claims processes--I don't think anyone on earth does--so I never said I like to negotiate with insurance companies.
The insurance company has not been a problem. They have approved everything asked for. You are a contractor. I asked for an estimate for contractor services, not advice on how to best manage an insurance claim.
By requiring potential customers to deal with one of your adjusters in order to even get an estimate, let alone services, you are actually putting yourself and the adjuster you require to be used in the middle of insurance negotiations. I've heard that some companies do that sort of thing to drive up the price charged to the insurance company which can often result in delays in claims processing. I'm sure that's not what was going on here, but I also didn't want to find out. Since it was clear there was no agreement with your company to be had it was time for your employees to leave. I'm sorry I wasn't able to invite them in for a cup coffee but I had several work matters to complete that day.
Thanks again for responding. Take care!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Rob
We understand how frustrated you are that your neighbor's tree fell and caused damage to your home. As we explained to you, due to the extent of the damage to your home and to professionally handle your repairs with your insurance company we recommend that you hire a third party licensed and insured public adjuster. We tried to recommend several public adjusters that we have worked with in the past. It is the responsibility of the public adjuster, not the contractor, to prepare a detailed and accurate estimate of the repair work to be done in your home and negotiate with your insurance company to see that the repair work is approved and paid for by the insurance company.
As I explained to you, as contractors we will make sure that the repairs to your home are done expeditiously and professionally restoring your home to its previously beautiful appearance. However, we are not licensed public adjusters and cannot negotiate with your insurance company.
Your response that you are an attorney and like to negotiate and even litigate the claim against your insurance company on your own is unwise in our opinion. Unfortunately, due to the extent of the damages done to your home we don't feel it is the right course of action and we can't be in the middle of your negotiations or litigation with your insurance company.
Tristar was invited by you to your home to provide an estimate and our professional opinion on the repairs to your home. However, you do not agree with our opinion and guidance, so we did not estimate the job. And because we did not get your way ... you told us to leave your home and now took the time to leave 2 unprofessional and rude reviews making false accusations against our company on google and yelp ... your tone on your review is how you interacted with us ... and that why we chose not to waist our time and yours and not to give you an estimate.
We came to your home to help you with this unfortunate situation, but since we can't agree
we wish all the best to you and your family, and are glad that no one got hurt when the tree fell.
We wish you well in restoring your home to its original beauty.Aug 30, 2021Previous reviewGO WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
I just had the worst experience with a construction service provider ever! The representative from Tri-Star arrived at the home to provide a quote for some construction work. A tree had fallen on the home causing significant property damage.
The representative arrived and within 5 minutes of him arriving he told me that since the insurance company was involved that I MUST WORK WITH HIS third-party public adjuster or else he would not assist. I informed him that I was aware of public adjuster services but that I wasn't going to use one.
The representative of Tri-Star then began arguing with me and telling me that I didn't know what I was talking about because he's been doing this for years. HE THEN SAID HE WOULD NOT GIVE ME A QUOTE UNLESS I WAS GOING TO WORK WITH HIS ADJUSTER. I told him that I called him for a quote and to just inspect the property let me know what he would charge for his construction services to repair the home. HE THEN QUICKLY AND RUDELY, WITHOUT INSPECTING THE PROPERTY, RESPONDED THAT HE WOULD CHARGE $50,000 AND THAT HE WOULDN'T GIVE A REAL QUOTE UNLESS IT WAS AGREED TO WORK WITH HIS ADJUSTER. HE SAID THIS AFTER HE HAD BEEN ON THE PROPERTY ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND HAD NOT INSPECTED THE PROPERTY OR LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE.
AT THAT POINT I ASKED HIM TO LEAVE. HE THEN STARTED YELLING HE "DOESN'T NEED ME" AND THAT UNLESS I AGREE TO WORK WITH HIS ADJUSTER THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO PROVIDE A QUOTE. At that point, I just went inside the home.
I called Tri-State to inform them of what occurred. I was told that they would let the owner know and that someone would call me back. I have not heard from anyone. Nor do I have a quote from this company, instead I had a waste of time. - Gina P.Staten Island, NY6922Mar 26, 2019
Highly recommend Tri-Star. Beautiful work
Neat, clean and professional
We had our storm door and windows done by them. I can not praise them enough beautiful frame work. Love dealing with Jerry and Max, never felt pressured to have work done that I didn't need.
Thank you for making our home look beautiful.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rosanne O.Great Kills, Staten Island, NY042Jun 10, 2019
Tri-Star replaced our front door and it is sturdy and beautiful. Max, the owner measured and gave his recommendations for our entryway. We met with him at a later date at the showroom to finalize our choice and order the door. The office staff kept us up to date with the estimated delivery dates and set up our appointment when the door
came in. The installation went smoothly. The installers were friendly and professional and were careful to protect my house from dust. Max came by during the job and after it was completed to be sure we were satisfied. This is the third time we have used Tri-Star. They installed our patio slider and a new roof in the past. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to my friends.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie P.Staten Island, NY04751Jun 12, 2019
Two great experiences with Tri Star Construction. Three years ago they put in a bay window and this year they reconstructed a wall to install door and window, as well as redo the siding of my house. I feel so comfortable working with everyone there from Jerry to Max and Maria. Everyone that comes by and sees the work is impressed. Oh yes, and their prices were very fair. Will definitely be using them for future work.

Please save yourself lots of aggravation and don't use Tri Star. The are vastly overpriced and overpromise their capabilities and the quality of their services and of of their inferior products.
Don't deal with Jerry or Max. They promise the world anc dont deliver.
Ordered doors and windows and they came shorthanded and with incorrect products..
They removed old windows on z stormy day and didn't come back off several weeks plus demanded much more money before installing windows. Have water damage in room because of their failure to close up opening. Then they were arrogant on phone.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robert D.Silver Lake, NY481021Dec 9, 2016
There are so many shady contractors on Staten Island and I have had the torture of dealing with many of them. Max at trstar stands out from the crowd. They work fast, neat and clean up after. My project was a large one and was handled professionally

So, I had a leak on my ceiling, tried to fix it myself twice unsuccessfully - time to call a professional. Now, I knew Tri-Star was not cheap, but they came highly recommended. So, this nice man Max come over, on time (called first to confirm!) - already a good start. Looked at the problem, told me what needs to be done. He understood what my needs were and graciously gave me some low-cost suggestions to fix it. How about that! A company giving out free advise. So, while Tri-Star did not get this job, it was a very good experience. I will definitely call them again in the future.

Tristar does excellent work. I've used them twice so far. They replaced 5 windows, and a sky light for me, and installed new insulation. They work quick, clean, and thorough. They also shingled my roof, replaced the rubber between myself and my neighbor, cleared my gutters, and repaired a damaged wall after a leak. They couldn't do my roof for a couple weeks. They sent a guy the day after my estimate to tarp the roof in case it rained. Their estimators are friendly and helpful. Their office staff is excellent. I found their prices to be reasonable, and their work to be quality. I definitely will be using them again.
